Future Toolbox Parenting Seminars

We're very pleased with the success of the first Toolbox Parenting Seminar, and keen to plan the next one. We intend to hold one each term in 2011, each covering the basic principles of the 'Toolbox' approach, so that those who have missed the first one don't need to wait a whole year before getting started. The rest of the course will be divided between the four seminars, so that by the end of the year you can have covered the whole course.

Running the course across four afternoons in this format should mean that there is time to touch on areas that often get squeezed out of the small groups for lack of time. Providing child care each time should make it possible for both parents to participate - which means they can work together on implementing the principles, and that has got to be a win.

We'd love to know if you are interested in attending future Toolbox Parenting Seminars - please complete the form below to indicate your interest.

About the Seminar

We are excited to be able to present to you the Toolbox material in a seminar format. In the past Toolbox has been presented as a 6 or 12 week small group course, and for busy exhausted parents, it was difficult to make that commitment, and almost impossible for both parents to attend and get the maximum benefit. A daytime seminar format is more intensive, more accessible, and we hope it will enable couples to attend together and work on a co-ordinated parenting strategy.

Our speaker and facilitator for the seminar will be Beth Barnett, Children and Families Facilitator for the Baptist Union of Victoria.

About Beth

Beth originally trained in Music Education, and gave the best years of her career life to 15 year-olds, riding the roller-coaster of Year 9 as home group teacher many times - and loving it! After having her own children, Beth took up roles in Pastoral ministry in Baptist and then Anglican congregations, developing children and families ministries across a broad range of cultures and contexts. Somehow that meant going to Playgroup for 10 years....
A passionate advocate of supporting parents through family faith nurture, and Toolbox Parenting courses, Beth is an un-caped crusader against the damage that individualism and consumerism have done to the process of family, community and parenting. Beth advocates to re-equip and re-empower parents with confidence and skills in their role as 24/7 coaches, and the primary influencers of their own children. She also has a vision of children everywhere putting their clothes in the laundry basket and voluntarily switching off the PS3.
